SUMMARY:Mural Celebration at LPCPL
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the new mural on the side of the La Porte County Public Library's (LPCPL) Exchange Building! The event will take place on Friday\, October 4 from 11:30 AM-1 PM CT\, at the La Porte County Main Library-Reading Wi-Fi Garden on 904 Indiana Ave.\, La Porte\, IN. At the celebration\, you will meet Alex Ann Allen\, the talented artist who created the mural titled "La Portal." There will also be remarks by Mayor Tom Dermody\; La Porte County Library's Executive Director\, Fonda Owens\; Janet Bloch from Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA)\, and Eric DeWald\, president of the Health Foundation of La Porte County who funded the project. Light refreshments will be provided.\n\n\n\nThe mural came about through a facilitation of public meetings by LCA\, the library's staff and board\, the artist and members of the community. Designed with the building's past and current use in mind\, it was also influenced by the architecture of the building and the broader themes of creativity and innovation.\n\n\n\nThe mural was facilitated by Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Collaboration with the La Porte Library\, the artist Alex Ann Allen and members of the community. Thank you to the Health Foundation of La Porte for their generous grant to make this mural possible.
