From Hollywood to Broadway!- La Porte County Symphony Orchestra Season Finale
La Porte County Symphony Orchestra is proud to present Maestro, Philip J. Bauman’s, From Hollywood to Broadway. After 23 years behind the LCSO podium, Bauman will wow the audience one final time in this Pops Concert jam packed with award winning and familiar favorites from the screen and stage on May 5th at the La Porte County Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge Street in La Porte at 7:30 pm. Audience members are invited to enter the venue starting at 6:30pm to enjoy a slide show commemorating Bauman’s tenure and experience with the orchestra over the past two decades.
Audience members of all ages will enjoy Hollywood selections from movies such as Avatar and Harry Potter, and from Broadway including, Hamilton, Mama Mia, and a Tribute to Richard Rodgers. LCSO welcomes guest pianist and local favorite, Andrew Tallackson, of The Beacher and Young People’s Theatre, for a moving selection from the recent Hollywood hit, La La Land. Also exciting will be a performance from Indiana’s own Hollywood film, Hoosiers! A special deleted scene from the movie will play during the orchestra’s performance featuring local actor, Robert Swan, who will be attending the concert as LCSO’s special guest for the evening!
LCSO is very proud to bring back Rick DeJonge, composer of Ho Ho Ho from the La Porte Healthcare Foundation’s 2016 Holiday at the Pops concert. In the 1980’s, DeJonge began his career in music education right here in La Porte, where he was before his time with innovation in the classroom. He brought a fresh and exciting energy to the classrooms lucky enough to experience his teaching during that time, and his impact continues to endear in the hearts of those he worked with. Since his teaching days in La Porte, DeJonge has composed television promos for shows such as Lost, Beautiful People, and CSI Miami and has conducted his own scores at Hollywood powerhouse studios including Paramount and Fox! He will join the LCSO orchestra as guest conductor for a premier of his, Tribute to Silent Films, a multimedia piece specially adapted for LCSO.
As LCSO prepares for two seasons of guest conductors hoping to become the next Artistic Director for the symphony, the organization and audience will surely be left with something AMAZING to remember after Bauman’s, From Hollywood to Broadway.
