Variety Show 2017, La Porte County Historical Society Museum
It’s that time again for the yearly Variety Show held at the La Porte County Historical Society Museum. The show will be on the lower level of the museum, starting at 7 PM on Saturday, June 17th. Doors will open at 6 PM, so come early and save a seat! 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the United State entering The Great War, or World War I. The theme for the Variety Show is “Music from WWI and a Little Beyond.” Regular museum admission will be charged.
Our local talent, including our wonderful accompanist, Rose Marie Dure, will again be on hand singing such songs as: “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” and “Shine on Harvest Moon”, as well as some lesser known songs such as, “If I’m Not at the Roll Call, Kiss Mother Good-Bye for Me.” A fun evening of music and a few historical facts is being planned. On display is a WWI exhibit, just for this year. La Porte Co. memorabilia is being rotated in and out of the display every few months.
The museum is located at 2405 Indiana Ave., or Highway 35, next to the round barn. The building is accessible to those with disabilities. Call 219.324.6767 or visit www.laportecountyhistory.org for more information and admission prices.
