HFL Commits $2.8 Million to Support Substance Use Prevention Programs in Schools
WHO: Healthcare Foundation of La Porte (HFL), Educational Development Center (EDC) and RTI International (RTI)
WHAT: HFL, EDC, and RTI will be hosting a kick-off academy for the 12 schools who were recipients of Partners in Prevention planning grant awards. This academy will allow the school representatives to meet their TA and evaluator partners, ask questions, and begin the planning phase of this initiative.
The HFL Board of Directors has approved up to $2.8 million in grant funding over the next four years for Partners in Prevention, an initiative that will help schools identify, implement and sustain evidence-based substance use prevention programs. All schools in La Porte County were invited to apply for grant funding. A total of $73,306 has been awarded to 12 schools for planning grants. HFL has contracted EDC as the Technical Assistance (TA) provider and RTI as the evaluation firm to assist schools during the planning and implementation phases of the program.
Members of the media are invited to attend a portion of the academy to meet planning grant recipients and partners from EDC and RTI, take pictures of those attending, and ask questions regarding this program.
