REAL Services Opens Nominations For 2019 Age of Excellence & Announces Lou Holtz as Keynote Speaker

REAL Services, Inc. is proud to announce that nominations for the 2019 Age of Excellence Awards Luncheon are now open. In its 23rd year, the Age of Excellence event celebrates the commitment and dedication of agencies, programs and individuals who care for and serve the elderly, disabled, and low-income populations in their communities. Nominations are now open in Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, and St. Joseph Counties through March 8, 2019.
 
REAL Services is delighted also to announce that Coach Lou Holtz will be the keynote speaker for the event, Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, at the Century Center, South Bend, Indiana. For more than two decades, the Michiana region has nominated many phenomenal individuals and organizations whose service and focus are offering care and assistance to those who need it the most. REAL Services is grateful for this and encourages the communities to continue to nominate those who fit the criteria listed below. The nominations are now open, and here is a brief description of the categories:
 
Business of the Year: This award acknowledges a caregiving agency or business that has displayed outstanding commitment and service to older adults. 
 
Professional of the Year: This honors the caregiving professional that is a stand-out in their field, offers compassion to those individuals they are caring for, and has a strong commitment to their profession.
 
Wyatt Mick Volunteer of the Year: This award celebrates the commitment to volunteerism to the elderly of an individual 60 years old and older.
 
Agency/Program Serving Low-Income of the Year: This award celebrates the commitment and outstanding services of an agency or program that helps low-income individuals while supporting their independence.
 
Change Agent of the Year: An individual who has made a significant impact in the lives of low-income populations.
 
Caregiver of the Year: Awarded to an individual who has made a difference in the lives of those in need.
 
Sargent Shriver Achievement Award: Honoring an individual who has spent the majority of their life in service to low-income populations.
 
Les Fox Hoosier Lifetime Award: This award honors an individual, 60 years old and older, who, like the founder of REAL Services, Les Fox, has demonstrated a lifetime of service to his or her community.

REAL Services is the umbrella organization for three divisions that serve vulnerable older adults and low-income persons of all ages. The three divisions include Area Agency on Aging, Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, and Community Action. 

Area Agency on Aging assists older people to maintain their independence as much as possible.
 
Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana provides support to those suffering from dementia and their families and caregivers.

Community Action assists low-income families in achieving self-sufficiency.
