Affordable Trip to Visit the State Legislature
Leadership La Porte County is offering an affordable opportunity to local people to visit the State Capitol in Indianapolis on Tuesday, March 6th. This trip is for people who have business with our State officials, people aspiring to run for office, or for people who have never visited the state legislature who want to see the process in action. Attendees will join Leadership La Porte County’s Adult Community Leadership class #34 members.
The bus will leave La Porte at 6 am (CST) and return around 6 pm (CST). Attendees can take a tour of the historic Capitol building, visit committees, and view the House and Senate, which are expected to be in session. A box lunch with local legislators is included. The cost of the trip is $25 and includes the bus transportation and lunch.
The trip is co-sponsored by Leadership La Porte County and the Unity Foundation of La Porte County. “We are grateful for the financial support of the Unity Foundation for this year’s trip. We welcome any interested community member to join us.” stated Leadership La Porte County Executive Director, Monica Komasinski. High school students are invited. Younger students must be accompanied by an adult.
Unity Foundation supports education at all levels and increasing understanding of how government works is important. I’ve been on many of these trips and I’m looking forward to this one because it’s a short legislative session. There’s good networking on the bus too!” said Maggi Spartz, Unity president.
