Shirley Heinze Land Trust Fall Partnership Luncheon
Shirley Heinze Land Trust will host its annual Partnership Luncheon on Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Long Beach Country Club in Michigan City. The event brings together the local conservation community and representatives of business and civic organizations to learn about the mission and work of Shirley Heinze Land Trust and its plans for the coming year.
Arthur Pearson, Director of Chicago Programs for the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, will be the keynote speaker. He will discuss the Foundation’s funding priorities, with a focus on its support for land conservation efforts in the Calumet Region. The Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation has been a partner of Shirley Heinze Land Trust since 2005.
Also on the agenda is the presentation of this year’s organizational category of the “Bringing Nature Home” Awards. These annual awards, sponsored by the Friends of Shirley Heinze, recognize local landscaping projects that incorporate native plants. These plants provide a critical source of food, shelter and migration ‘waystations’ for insects, birds and other wildlife, and are an important part of the natural ecosystems of the region. ArcelorMittal's Global Research and Development Facility in East Chicago, The Gary Redevelopment Commission, and The Town of Munster will be recognized for their landscape projects. For more information about the award program, visit the web page at http://www.heinzetrust.org/bringing-nature-home.html
