The public is invited to attend a free training workshop for prospective volunteer monitors of local butterfly populations. Staff from Shirley Heinze Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy will present the workshop on Saturday, February 24th, from 10am-noon at the Meadowbrook Conservation Center in Valparaiso.
Workshop participants will learn how to identify butterflies, learn about their life cycles, and hear about opportunities to collect data on butterfly populations in northwest Indiana for the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network. Persons wishing only to learn about the program are also welcome.
John Henry Drake of the Indiana Chapter of the Nature Conservancy will lead the workshop. The Meadowbrook Conservation Center is located at 109 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN 46385.
