QuickBooks: Make It Quick, Put It in the Book!
Women in Leadership of La Porte County (WILL) is hosting a tech seminar, “QuickBooks: Make It Quick, Put It in the Book!” for beginning and intermediate QB users to develop their capabilities in the program and add value to their workplaces. Lisa Human, Senior Accountant at CLH, Certified Public Accountants, will facilitate the QuickBooks workshop on August 1 at Ivy Tech Community College in Michigan City. QuickBooks remains an essential tool for managing accounting records and transactions; this interactive seminar will dispel common points of confusion and emphasize essential QuickBooks skills to improve users’ efficiency within the program. Participants can expect to learn: • QuickBooks navigation and transaction entry, including bank feeds and bank/credit card reconciliation and accounts receivable and accounts payable • Reporting functions, including how to customize and automate reports • How to share information with your CPA using QB online and QB desktop • A variety of tips, tricks, and shortcuts The seminar will be held on August 1, 2017, at Ivy Tech Community College, Michigan City Campus, 3714 Franklin Street, Michigan City, IN. Registration will be from 8:00-8:30 a.m. and the event will take place from 8:30-10:30am, followed by a Q&A session from 10:30-11:00am. Ivy Tech Culinary Arts will provide coffee, water, and light refreshments. Participants should bring a laptop for a hands-on learning experience using a training model provided by the facilitator. There will be a focus on QuickBooks Online, including topics that also span QuickBooks Desktop. (It is not necessary to have QuickBooks purchased or installed to attend the workshop.) This workshop is underwritten by Horizon Bank, Rene Ray of R Squared Strategies, Erica Young of Bank of England, and Ivy Tech Community College. For WILL members, the cost is $40, and $50 for non-members. Each year, WILL not only underwrites programs but also provides direct training to support, cultivate, and grow technical and leadership skills in women of all ages. All proceeds from this workshop will be used to continue this mission. With over 15 years of accounting experience, Lisa Human, a Michigan City native, is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University. Human also serves on the Board of Directors of Homeward Bound, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating homelessness in La Porte County. She and her husband, Tim, together share two sons, a daughter, and a granddaughter.
