On Saturday, January 20, 2018, Shirley Heinze Land Trust will host a volunteer workday at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve in Valparaiso from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Meadowbrook is currently the site of one of the largest reforestation efforts ever to take place in Northwest Indiana. We will be using bush cutters and loppers to remove undesirable tree and shrub species. All personal protective equipment will be provided, along with training on the safe use of tools. Volunteers are requested to RSVP at volunteer@heinzetrust.org (219) 242-8558.
*IF WEATHER COOPERATES * Volunteers can warm up on this cold winter day by feeding a bonfire with previously cut woody invasive shrubs. Please wear cotton or wool clothing. Synthetic fabrics may be damaged by stray embers from the burning brush piles.
