Horizon Bank Slicer Branch Scholarship Awarded to Logan Higley

Michigan City, Indiana – Horizon Bank is pleased to announce the 2024 Horizon Bank Slicer Branch Scholarship has been awarded to Logan Higley. A check in the amount of $1,000 was presented at the Scholarship Award Program held at the LaPorte High School Auditorium on April 29th.

Logan excels academically, ranking at the top of her class, while also actively participating in athletics, clubs, and volunteering efforts. She is the president of the National Honor Society, head editor of the year book, and is a member of the Rotary Interact Club, Key Club, and Spanish Club. Logan was elected
captain of girls’ tennis, as well as captain of the cheerleading team. She regularly volunteers in the community, taking photos for a public health organization, serving meals at the Pax Center, and participating in street clean ups.

In her essay “Community Service Matters Because…,” Logan explains that community service provides unique knowledge that is unattainable through other means. She states, “It is this real-world knowledge that can help bring people together through empathy.”

Logan plans to attend Indiana University Indianapolis in the fall where she will major in Biology and join their cheerleading team.
